This song came out when I was in 8th grade. At the time I only had the song on cassette dubbed from the radio and I could never get the WHOLE song recorded. I wanted their album bad so I traded my classmate a bunch of printed out lyrics for a dub of Camp Lo’s album. Back then I was one of the only kids in school with a computer and internet. This was pre MP3′s about 1996. I used to bring in print outs of yo mama jokes, lyrics, and naked pictures of pam anderson and other celebs. I was caught with the yo mama jokes and had them taken away but luckily I didn’t get caught with the naked pictures of chicks. But I listened to Camp Lo’s album and loved their flow and wordplay. I still dont know what the hell they were saying but the way they were rapping just sounded so fly and smooth. Their delivery was definitely unique and didn’t have the usual punchines, metaphors, or bragging about money. Other joints I liked off the album were Black Nostaljack, Sparkle, and Say Word. I have no idea why they never released another album to follow up Uptown Saturday Night. They released one in the mid 2000′s but by then most people have forgot about them.
