I never listened to Public Enemy because they were a little before my time and weren’t exactly radio pop stars like Michael Jackson. I knew of “Fight The Power” and “He Got Game” from the movie of the same name but neither really struck a chord with me. I recently stumbled on this song through this mix on Mixcrate and it instantly grabbed my attention. Pete Rocks jazzy head bobbing production accompanied by Chuck D’s aggressive empowering flow is like a ying & yang. This song makes me proud to be a hip hop fan. Who doesn’t like an aggressive empowering song? Chuck D just lends so much credibility and substance to his lyrics that there is no way you cannot respect Public Enemy. I think one day this week I will listen to Public Enemys discography.
